SODECA ATEX ventilation solutions for hydrogen stations

ATEX FANS FOR GREEN HYDROGEN GENERATION.

The hydrogen production process involves the electrolysis of water using electrolyzers using electricity generated from renewable sources such as wind or
the sun Unlike conventional hydrogen, which is derived from fossil fuels, green hydrogen does not emit greenhouse gases, gases during its production or when it is used as a fuel.
This makes it a key option for decarbonised sectors of the economy such as transport, industry or power generation.

In turn, hydrogen is a highly explosive gas (IICT1) and, therefore, ventilation of enclosed spaces where hydrogen may accumulate must be provided in accordance with current regulations and/or standards.

Hydrogen (H2) is the most abundant element in the universe that can be used to produce energy.

EXPLOSION GROUP AND TEMPERATURE CLASS
TEMPERATURE CLASS (IGNITION TEMPERATURE)

Combined with the high explosion energy, low amount of energy required for its ignition and low flammability limit, hydrogen makes it a particularly dangerous gas and requires special ATEX type equipment.

SODECA uses the IIB+H2 marking for fans that are suitable for hydrogen.

There are many applications that may require fans that are ready to operate in explosive environments.
In general, any application that occurs in an area with a risk of explosion:

Any device installed in an explosive atmosphere must be prepared to prevent its ignition leading to an explosion. This greatly improves installation, maintenance and safety
road in industries with explosive atmospheres.

SODECA offers solutions for hydrogen extraction in electrolyzers and other applications where this gas may be present. SODECA plants are ATEX certified and designed and built in accordance with the European standard EN
14986:2017, suitable for use in zone 1 (category 2) and comply with the European directive 2014/34/EU.
SODECA has a wide range of ATEX fans suitable for use with hydrogen, ensuring the best ventilation solution can be chosen without sacrificing energy efficiency or reliability.

Most often equipped with ATEX units from SODECA.
ATEX certified electric motors with increased safety EX eb or fireproof, Ex db. The latter, in most cases, are suitable for
use with a frequency-regulated drive.
Fans for countries where NPFA 70 NEC ATEX certification is used instead, such as the United States, SODECA offers EX fans with UL/CSA motors and certified for Class I Div 2 Group B, according to NEC 500.
