R Series precision air conditioners for large data centers. In-row installation.
Application:
TECNAIR LV's R-series precision air conditioners are rack-sized units specifically designed for side-by-side installation alongside server racks. When designing air conditioning systems for large data centers, the need to reduce energy consumption is increasingly important. For this reason, the following principles have become standard international practice:
- Server racks are most often arranged in a "hot" or "cold" aisle configuration.
- The operating air temperature in the hot aisle reaches 30-35°C, while in the cold aisle it's 20-25°C, with very low humidity (no more than 30%). Consequently, the water temperature can rise to 20-28°C when using a free-cooling system for best results.
- Server capacities are increasing while their dimensions are shrinking. This means racks can accommodate more servers, allowing for the removal of empty racks. At the same time, heat dissipation increases, requiring air conditioners with higher performance.
- Servers operate 24/7, with their capacity reduced at night. Therefore, it's crucial that air conditioners have adjustable cooling capacity and be designed for minimal energy consumption and environmental impact.
To meet these requirements, the R-Series air conditioners were developed with rack-sized dimensions, rear hot aisle air intake and front cold aisle air discharge.
Possessing the following advantages:
- Utilizing the freed-up space in the racks, cold air is distributed as close as possible to the server (the source of heat generation).
- Horizontal air intake and discharge: the airflow does not change direction within the unit, preventing pressure loss and reducing fan power consumption.
- Free access to the unit from the front and rear facilitates maintenance.
- Cooling, hydraulic, and electrical connections are made from the top or bottom of the unit.
General specifications:
The cooling capacity of direct expansion models ranges from 20 to 40 kW.
HRA: horizontal air discharge.
The cooling capacity of models with a chilled water heat exchanger ranges from 10 to 40 kW.
HRU: horizontal air discharge.
